I use G96 to clean. It's a great product and smells great to boot. I use hoppes lube and gun slick on the rails.

I have cleaned my gun only once so far and this is what I did. I field stripped the gun and sprayed everything with breakfree CLP. I scrubbed the breach face and whatever else was necessary with a nylon brush. I cleaned everything off with patches until they weren't dirty anymore and ran a boresnake several times down the barrel. I put a drop of hoppes # 9 lubricant on each rail, and wiped everything with lightly oiled patches.

Does this sound right? Should I add any steps or completely change it? I also bought gunscrubber synthetic safe for when just the CLP won't cut it. Is it also good to leave a light coating of oil down the barrel?

Sounds pretty thorough to me, but did you use some sort of solvent on the bore snake?

You also need a tiny bit of oil on your sear spring (just a q-tip works), and on all sides of your rail, not just the top part. Same goes with the locking insert (top, sides, inside). Don't forget to run a patch of oil down your barrel, then a clean dry patch down after the oil.

Also remember to disassemble your magazines and clean them out as well. No oil necessary, just clean them.

Ditto on Boresnake......I'll never clean another barrel a different way... Get a nice scrub, clean, and lube all in one pass if you just spray your oil on the cloth part of the snake.......3 passes is all it takes.

I sprayed the inside of the barrel with CLP, then I ran the boresnake dry several times through to clean it.

Slip 2000: 725 Cleaner, Carbon Killer, and Lubricant/Preservative. They have replaced all of my other cleaning products.
