They also have the Micro Compact in .45 acp which is very similar to the EMP but in .45 acp.

Once Again I find myself agreeing with jtkratzer. The reason were all here is because we Like our SA-XD's I say ... the more models SA can offer us the better. Different tools for different jobs. I'm sure the good people at SA like to keep up on what customers want. So IMHO These types of threads are a good thing. I would also love a XD-45-T 15+1, SA/DA w/ 7 inch threaded barrel But for summer carry I still desperately want a Single Stack XD |

Never been a fan of DA/SA though, I prefer a consistent pull on every round.

I would only want a single stack XD, if they could narrow the entire gun down, slide and all from the now, what? 1.2" to something like 0.88" like the PF-9 I think it is from Keltec. Oh and keep a full lengh grip option too! Thickness is generally my biggest struggly with conceal carry, and somewhat weight riding on belt.

I really don't want to get into this but those who want a single stack XD so much really don't want a XD at all. If you think the XD is too wide and prefer say one of 1911 family you should go measure the grips. I have a 1911 and a XD45 in front of me right now, the grip of the 1911 (with thin wood grips) measures 1.297" the grip of the XD45 measures 1.223" yet the 1911 is called a thin gun. Snubby revolvers are always considered thin and easy to conceal my 2" 357 snubby with a Hogue grip measures 1.115". I don't know know what some of the other "pocket pistols" measure but in every case you give up capacity for what a 1/10". The XD is a high capacity tactical weapon yet they have accommodated the public by issuing a sub compact model while retaining reasonable capacity. There are plenty of single stack reduced capacity "get off me" guns available that work just fine for the designed purpose but they are not tactical weapons. I personally think it is pretty nice to have a high capacity tactical weapon that is pretty easy to conceal and I wouldn't be the least bit hesitant about taking it to a gun fight or out to dinner with the family.

I'm thinking PPS dimensions are close to ideal. Maybe even slightly shorter. Yet still allow for longer 10 round single stack mags. IMHO the real issue is how THIN & Light can they make the XD? |

If they make it any thinner, Im gonna have to find a way to get the grip larger. I WOULD like to see an XD10 tho. If they would make it in 10mm, Id be all over it. |

I'd love to see the Service 9mm in a single stack. Slim it down to about the size of Kahr in width and girth, and I'm there!

I'd like to get an XD 9 4" Compact in single stack as long as it'd be thinner all around.
Why that size? Because in many European countries pocket guns are basically illegal even though theoretically (and with sh*tloads of cash maybe) one could get a permit to buy one. The 4" XD Compact/CZ P-01/PCR/Glock 19 Pro (the one with the threaded barrell, the regular 19 is already too small) all are just (and I mean just, it's a question of reakin' millimeters!) big enough to not fall into the pocket gun category (which means any gun small enough to fit a 13cm x 18cm box). Many Americans say, get the SA EMP. Well yeah, I would, but...it's too small, it fits the box = no permit, can't buy it. Why 9mm? Because it would mean about, say, 10 rounds which is, imo, plenty for defensive purposes, cheap to buy, and is pretty easy to shoot. With good shot placement a 9mm is plenty with which to kill another human being, or so I've gathered (not having shot anyone to death myself). Also, the XD is far more affordable than, say, a SIG (which they atleast used to have in 9mm single stack that didn't fit the dreaded 13x18 box). So yeah, I'd be all over it if they made a 9mm XD 4" Compact in single stack and the gun was thinner than the regular XD 4" Compact/Service. |
