Thinking about downgrading

Hi ya'll

I am thinking about downgrading from my xd40 sc to a xd9 sc. I have shot about 600 rounds through it and my follow up shots are not so good due to the snap. I understand the somewhat less "stopping power", however, I think I would rather have two shots on target rather than one in the center and one off to the side. Thoughts? Plus the $7 to $10 price diffference in practice ammo per box is a factor too. I can't afford to just buy another one for awhile so I would have to sell mine.

Can't sell here unless you have 100 posts. This is the correct area to post sales.

I agree with you .I had an XD-40 Service and sold it . 3 years later I bought an XD-9 Service. I too think like you , better to get at least somthing on target than nothing even though its a smaller bullet . Shot placement is the key and looks like you understand , thats why you are wanting to get the XD-9. And yeah , ammo is high as heck . Sounds good to me . Also in reality you are not downgrading , you are upgrading ,meaning that the less recoil will make you get better shot placement , just my $.02. hope you get one soon. The xd-9's are awesome.

I say pick the largest caliber that you can shoot accurately. I wouldn't want to be shot with anything.. but I would pick the best SD Ammo I could buy and just hope I never have to use it. (/me Eats Popcorn for the Caliber Debate)

This is not an ad to sell just a request for opinions regarding what ya'll think. Hopefully from someone who has shot both.

I've shot a 9mm and .40 service. Couldn't really tell much of a difference.

I don't really find that the snap of the .40 is significantly more than that of the 9mm. But there IS a difference that can be felt when you shoot them side-by-side.

I'd recommend going to a range that rents guns, and rent an XD-9 to shoot next to the .40. See if the difference is enough to justify taking the hit in value of a used weapon.

I highly recommend that anybody who does a significant amount of shooting, look into reloading. A couple hundred bucks to get set up with a turret press, and it will pay for itself in only a few hundred rounds (depending on caliber).

I was at the range today and rented a G19 to try out, plus the wife was with me and she hates the .40. I shot them both side by side and I did much better with my double taps with the Glock. I prefer having the grip safety though. I did take into account that the Glock is a little bigger but weight wise, my XD felt heavier. So to me that pretty much balanced out the size difference.

You're correct. The Glock is a few oz. lighter than the XD.

I'd say trade if you're going to get rid of your XD40sc...there are probably more people out there who want to bump up from 9mm to .40 s&w and you probably don't care about money invested, you just want an XD9sc...if that's the case and all things being equal on wear and tear and number of mags, do a trade.
