I also use it and have hade no problems and it is cheap! ,but afterwords I lube it up good with Break-free CLP and wipe the frame with a gun cloth that has silicone in the cloth!

Do pretty much the same routine on the slide assembly. Follow that with some CLP and reassemble.
I wouldn't use brake cleaner unless it specifically said "plastic safe" on the can.
Take care,
Dave
Only problem is, that stuff removes any oil or grease it comes in contact with.

Yes, that way, when I hit it with compressed air, nothing sticks to any residual oil or grease. Then I squirt CLP on my freshly cleaned lower or upper and go get it dirty all over again.

i should point out that the walmart brake cleaner i got at walmart i use on my xd frame all the time and its ok but i got some on my computer mouse it didnt turn it white like it does to some things but it did kinda "melt" parts of it. but it didnt do any damage to the frame and i sprayed it in there really good and had no problem
but you should always test it on a hidden spot when ever you try a new cleaner weather or not it says plastic safe

I've used a half dozen kinds of brake cleaner on sigs, hk's, glocks, xd's, sigmas, taurus, kahr's, rugers, etc..... None of them melted.
