Trigger pull for disassembly

I love my XD but theres one thing I would change if I could. I really don't like having to release the striker to break it down. Does anyone else feel the same?

I don't see it as a problem as long as you check that it's unloaded.

Also, you live near me.

It's not the only gun that is disassembled that way.

I know its not the only gun disassembled that way, and I never really saw it as a problem until last time out. I was shooting some reloads that I got from a friend and had a few jams. Then on the last mag of the day I got a super jam! It stopped about 1/8" short of battery and I couldn't get it to go in or eject it. I had some oil with me and that still didn't allow it to budge. Finally had to go home with a live round stuck in the gun. WD40 and a good soak later and I got it into battery(it wouldn't eject). During the process of this jam I thought about taking it apart for the drive home and realized I couldn't do so without touching it off. This problem won't happen again as I'll only use factory from now on, but it still made me think.

When that type of problem happens you take care of it at the range. Hold the gun by the frame and hit the back of grip, where the grip safety is with the other hand. You might have to do it several times. If that doesn't work hold the gun by the grip turn it upside down with the top of the frame pointing downward and push it forward "away from you" against the table or bench, pointed down range and keep you finger off the trigger while doing this.
