need some help

i'm just getting in to shooting and wonder why you would have rust problems on this pistol, i really like the feel of the xd and was just going to purchase the sub compact 9.are the problems, moisture and if so what are the correct things to do to prevent it.

Thanks for the reply, should you wipe it down everday, i have ccw, so if i buy an xd, it will be in on me or in my vehicle during work, and i live northeast PA and the weather is all over place up here.

in my opinion, these pistols are really not that temperamental, however like anything else, you don't want to snooze with the cleaning and maintenance when making these kinds of investments. i would just suggest to keep it wiped down and free from sweat and set a schedule to clean it on a regular basis (whether it be once a week, or whatever works for you, etc.) and you should really be fine.

just another thought - i would consider the XD9 Service model, because you'll get a bit more distance with it at the range and i know when buying one of these pistols, you will want to get acquainted with it at the range.

be sure to keep us informed as to which XD you end up buying.
