XD Compact .45 or .40 subcompact for conceal carry?

Alright, I'm a total newb to all this and accept that. I am looking for my first handgun and have narrowed down to the compact .45 or subcompact .40. I just can't decide between the two for a good carry conceal weapon. Thanks guys.

I have the 9mmsc for carry and love it. Just depends on what your comfortable carrying. The sc will be easier to conceal because of its smaller size. IMHO.

I am new to this as well because I just bought my first XD a few weeks ago and I got the SC in 40. I love it fits in my hand nice and just is a awesome little gun. However I will say I have been thinking about getting a 45 compact and trading in my Ruger 45. In my opinion you can't go wrong with any XD in my book but I will highly recommend the SC for carry.

My hands would require a Pierce grip extension on the 45 compact, which would somewhat defeat the purpose the compact, so I would just get a 45 service.

i got my XD40sc, I've been carrying it for the 2 days I've had it. Easy for me to conceal it, and packs a lot of punch.

The XD45 compact is nice for carrying, the XD40sc may be a bit easier to conceal, but the XD45c will be a much better range gun for extended shooting sessions.

Actually there is two slide lengths, Service (4 inch barrel) and Tactical (5 inch barrel) available in 45ACP. You can then get either of those slides with the full size frame that take the 13rd magazine or the compact frame size that takes 10rd magazines or can use 13rd magazine with the grip extension.

In the 9mm & 40S&W you can get the Service or Tactical length slides with a full size frame only. The Sub Compact has the smaller frame and short slide with 3inch barrel.

There are third party custom shops that will taken full size 9mm and 40S&W XD frames and cut the grips down to use the shorter magazine of the Sub Compact accentually creating a compact XD-9 or XD-40.

Hope that helps
