I can see how a large person can conceal a 4" slide but I can't see how a 4" would be easier to conceal than a 3" on anyone. I tried carrying my 4" once. It was too long and was less comfortable when I sit or drive. The only way I could see doing it is by wearing my pants at or above my belly button.

For example I have the compact 4' 45, so the shorter grip than service, but only slightly longer than the subcompact. With a 4 inch slide.

It conceals almost as well as the SC40, and is better at the range. Plus, its 10+1. You should handle both of them. I think the compact grip is even easier to conceal than the sub with a pearce extension.

I think your body type comes into play but most people will not notice the 1" longer barrel and the real issue for concealment is the length of the grip. Also if you carry forward this to would have some effect when seated.

I've been carrying my 4" service for a few days in a POS holster until the M-Tac comes in. No problem sitting down, only when in the car wearing my seatbelt. Im a bigger guy too.

My XD-45 Compact conceals just fine. Put it OWB or IWB and flop a loose sweatshirt over top and you are good to go. XD's are not slim guns. They are all similar in thickness. They do differ on barrel/slide length and grip length as has been pointed out. But I think you can conceal just about any of the models that are under 5" barrel length. And you can conceal the 5" without all that much trouble as well.

So I say bigger is better. Get the .45 ACP. You won't ever regret that move.

I'm 6' and about a buck fitty in weight...no problem concealing the XD45c IWB. Get a half decent holster and a good belt and you'll be fine.

I have both and wear them in my Supertuck at about 4oclock. Both conceal very well, but the SC a little better due to the 1 inch difference in barrel length. It is actually noticeable to me (not visually) when go for my wallet in certain pants. Nobody ever notices with either and I have done multiple tests, specifically with the 45. After all, I know the SC is invisible.

Xd40sc V. Xd45c

If I had to choose between the two I'd go with the 40SC. Mine is a real "shooter".

I already have a 45acp service and i would like to get a 40sc just to broaden my collection. I don't really feel like having two 45s with the only difference being 1" on the grip

Sc 40 IWB holsters

I just bought a SC40 as an alternative carry gun to my 4" XD9. I have a Brommeland Max-Con V ($129.00) holster that I have been using. I have only used it a couple of times and it fits both my XD9 and my SC40 perfectly. What holsters do others use? Currently I live in the Des Moines, IA area but I'm planning to relocate to Alamogordo/Tularosa, New Mexico in June. My big issue is leather against bare skin. What are my options or alternatives? Is there a fix available (mole skin?)
