XD Malfunction - FTC?
When firing my wife's XDSC (9mm) at the range, it produced an interesting malfunction; the spent casing extracted properly, the next round fed properly, the slide went fully into battery, and at this point, the weapon was NOT cocked. The weapon would not cock until I disassembled the slide and reassembled it. Once this had been done, the problem did not reoccur until approximately another 100 rounds had been put through it. Again, I disassembled and reassembled the slide, and the weapon functioned properly for another 50 rounds. This time, I boxed it up and sent it to SA.
SA was unable to find a problem in their 100 allotted rounds; I'll be videotaping it at the range today in hopes of documenting the problem for them. Does anyone have experience with this sort of malfunction? The weapon is pure stock, with the exception of SureSights. I'm in a little bit of a jam here...she can't carry it until we know it works properly, and if SA can't find a problem, they can't fix it.

70 views...please, someone suggest something? I can't even wrap my head around how this malfunction is physically possible.

is the channel that the firing pin rides in clean? Sometimes that gets full of gunk and it won't cock.
I guess SA would have checked that but I guess it's worth mentioning.

the sear isnt reseting.
pull the slide off and pull the trigger and then puch down on the trigger bar tap (it sticks up just a little bit above the frame. when you puch it you should hear a click and you should see the sear reset. this happened to me when i put a really light spring in the sear and it didnt have enough force to reset it |

Not gunk in the firing pin channel; that was the first thing I checked. It might have been a problem with the sear...I put 300 rounds through it today before I quit (out of time). I'll try to get more through it tomorrow. Someone suggested that SA might have found the problem, fixed it, and decided not to tell me about it...that would infuriate me, but I'd have a fixed pistol. We'll see what the next 700 rounds do.
