After 6 weeks of waiting it finally came on Saturday. I went to the DSP on Monday to pick it up, then i went down to the store and got my XD40. I have to say for my first (definatly not the last) pistol, i love it. I am going to try to go down to the range Today to try it out. My only question is that the recoil spring assembly sticks out beyond the frame by about an 1/8". Is this normal?

That is actually the guide rod. It keeps the gun while pressed up against something from not going back into battery if you fire it. If you dont like the look of it you can purchase after market guide rods such as Don's Guide Rod which will put it flush against the slide.
PISTOLGEAR | YOUR ONE-STOP SHOP FOR ALL SPRINGFIELD XD Edited to say congratulations on the CCW. Another way to understand what I said would be make sure the gun is unloaded. Rack the slide so that it is cocked, manually pull back the slide slightly and try to fire the pistol you will notice that it will not fire as it is not in battery. This is the samething that would occur if it was pressed up against something without the protruding guide rod. Hopefully that makes more sense. Last edited by BlackOnyx : 03-10-2008 at 11:09 PM. |

I am also in CT and shoot my xd45 at Chris's Indoor range in Guilford pretty frequently. If you are nearby, maybe we'll bump into each other there sometime.
