XD45C vs. XD9SC weight issue

Ok. I've been carrying the 45c for a while and I pretty happy with things overall. I got the comp-tac infidel with the normal belt clip and it works slick although it's just a tad heavy. Sure a bigger/stronger belt might help but a smaller gun during the hot summer months would be nice too (maybe just an excuse to buy another gun).

Anyway, my question is how much heavier is a 10+1 .45 vs. a 10+1 sc. Would you notice a significant difference in the droopyness of your drawers? Perhaps you could create a graph.

Ha. If anybody carries or has both it would be nice to know for "research" purposes before I blow more money.

A quick visit to Springfield Armory's website reveals:
XD45C with small mag = 29 ounces plus weight of ammo
XD9SC with small mag = 26 ounces plus weight of ammo

That is a 10% lighter gun without factoring in ammo.
10 rounds of 9mm weigh about 40% less than 10 rounds of 45acp.

So total weight of the loaded gun would be roughly 15-20% less.

In my book, that is a noticeable reduction in weight.

The gun itself (SC) is only 3 ounces lighter than the .45 Compact, but the real kicker is the ammo. As I'm sure you know, a full magazine of .45 is pretty hefty. The SC mag isnt a featherweight, but itll be considerably less than the Compact.

EDIT: Bah, dosei beat me to it...

I believe it would be a significant difference. I have the 45c and the 40sc. There is a big felt difference between them IMO.

The difference is readily felt. I don't know that it would make your pants any more droopy, the SC is already a dense little gun, If you want something light go with a smith jframe airweight that you can just about carry in your speedo. You don't buy the SC or the Compact 45 cause its light, but cause its a very concealable yet highly functional and at 9 or 10 +1 its a great choice to get yourself out of trouble. The right belt and holster combo makes either one a great option.

not a big deal, as far as i am concerned.

it may be barely noticeable initially, but after carrying it constantly, you'd never know the difference. i don't feel the 3 ounce difference in the pistol itself and minimal ammo weight difference is worth the comparison.

but again, this is only my opinion of things.

There is a noticable difference between the .45 service and the 9sc! The 9sc is almost unnoticable after awhile.

i think he was asking about the comparison of the XD45C and the XD9SC, which even still, i am sure this is a very subjective finding on the weight differences.

i mean, some people would probably carry the Desert Eagle too.

good luck with your decision.

Here's a thought...in case you might want to stay with the .45 ammo. I was talking with a guy the other day (this guy was a Marine sniper in Vietnam) about concealed carry. He showed me his Taurus titanium .45 with 10+1. I was frankly amazed at how light that pistol was. It felt lighter than my XD9SC with 10+1.

I'm sorry I didn't get a model number, and I don't know about the reliability of the brand in general or that model--whatever it is--in particular. But since you expressed reduced weight as an objective...might be worth a look.

I carry an XD45c with 10+1 and all I know it's lighter than a 1911 government model with 7+1...

I'm debating on a pocket gun for another option to carry, but whatever works for you.

A good belt makes all the difference in the world...this coming from a guy who used to just wear a regular leather dress belt and I'm now wearing a 1.5" 5-stitch Wilderness Tactical belt.
