Get a Liger belt from Maxpedition, and you'll never know the 45C is there.

I carried a Combat Commander (all steel) on one all day long, several days in a row, while hunting last year. I literally forgot it was there. I measured it the other day with 6 rounds in it, and it weighed 36oz. For me, it is more about size and shape than weight, until you get to right at 42oz.

Just my 2 cents' worth. And I'm about 5'6" and 145 lbs.

Thanks for the opinions. Basically I just wanted something that wasn't as noticeable weight wise. While I like the .45C, the ammo is itself is heavy duty.

I would probably carry an SC for several reasons;

1. Similar to 45 in grip and design
2. Cheaper ammo
3. Lighter
4. Nice for (hot) summer casual carry

Basically I'm looking for an all around pistol similar to the 45C that might help me become a better shooter and won't cost an arm and a leg to burn some ammo.

I've put my hands on a couple and from all I've read I can't see going wrong with the SC. While I didn't care for it at first, the OD looks pretty nice. The regular XD9 is nice too, but that might be the next purchase.

Damn you Springfield. These things need a warning: "May be addictive."

If you're up to it, get the XD9 service, and do a grip chop. There are detailed instructions here on the site. It basically chops the grip down to the size of the SC for carrying, but you can put the full size mags with the spacers in just like the SC for a full-sized grip. 9mm is going to be your cheapest ammo as well. That's what I would do. If you want concealability, lower priced ammo, and easiness to shoot, that'd be my recommendation.
