You can get OEM pins and other parts at the online store at xdguys.com for no more than a few dollars. I've also seen OEM parts at pistolgear.com. To keep them from rusting, you can punch them out, clean them well, and lube with oil.

Quite easy. All you really need is a punch set to punch out the pins, and maybe the guides from xd-hs2000.com.

Where can I find a punch set??? I looked at the website but with no luck. A person from xdguys.com told me that somewhere on this forum there was a tutorial on how to put in the pins???

Well brass punches were hard for me to find locally so I got a set of steel punches from a local auto store. For the guides, check the FAQ subforum with a lot of stickies.
