I tried to search for this and had no luck, so I apologize if this has already been covered.

I'm shooting an XD40. With the magazine loaded with 10 (Thats the max in mine) I cannot put the magazine in the gun if the slide is closed. It works just fine with the slide open, and then putting the mag in.. but if its closed, it won't go in all the way.

Any help would be great!

Push harder. Seriously.
New springs are stiff; it will get easier.

Ok.. Will do. I just didn't want to force it if it didn't want to go. I wasn't sure if there was a reason it wasn't going in all the way.

Unless you're loading 10rds +1 in the chamber, just lock the slide back and make it easier on yourself.

Hold the gun like you normally would (finger off the trigger, pointed in a safe direction, of course). And slam the bottom of the magazine into the pistol.

They're meant to be hit home, you can't afford to be gentle when it comes to this kinda stuff, in a bad situation, you gotta already have the mindset to slam it.

It's like how some people gently let the slide forward to chamber a round. Just let it slam, it's more reliable, and it's what it does to chamber itself when you shoot it.

Guns rely on their kinetic force to function reliably. They can take a beating, don't be timid, you won't hurt it.
