sore fingers on first big shoot with XD
I just went to shoot my XD-40 the other day for the first time for acuracy and reliability and man do i have a sore trigger finger! I have shot it before but not that much , maybe like 100 rds to see if it funtioned but i shot the crap out of it the other day and man i need to transition my self from my
Glock 22's grip to the XD's ! I have been shooting my Glock .40 full size for 8 years now and have around 30,000 rds through it . I always use the tip of my finger to pull the trigger .With the XD and it's rather wide trigger , when i was trying to shoot it with my finger tip , it got sore very fast! So after about 200 rds , i had to start using my whole finger pad , like the whole first "segment" on the trigger and it got alot better and so did my accuracy. Has anyone else had the sore finger thing or is this just me? Man this pistol is great , i love it but its a lot different than a Glock . I love the Glock , but whoever said that the XD was a Glock "clone" obviously had never shot them both! They are like night and day in comparison, totally different. As soon as i get my sights adjusted , i beleive i will have a new favorite pistol!

Don't worry about your XD finger.
The more you shoot , it will get better.

I frequently read reports of sore trigger fingers here. I have never had that problem.
Occasionally, I'll go to the range for 4 or 5 hours to work on a particular drill. I might go through 500-600 rounds (I also work in a lot of dry-firing). The only thing that starts to bother me is my right wrist or the web of my right thumb/forefinger.

yeah... i dont understand how peoples fingers hurt. the XD has a decent lb. pull and a nice break... better than a lot of guns. i just dont see the difference in the XD compared to other guns, that would make your finger hurt.

Yeah, I've had the sore finger problem also. The trigger almost seems like it backlashes against your finger when the slide comes back, almost like there is feedback in the trigger mechanisim. So far the only recourse I can find is to do exactly what you did, use your whole finger pad. I have yet to try and smooth the face of my XD-40 trigger and blend the trigger safety into it, but I have noticed that some people complain of this trigger slap, especially the owners of the XD-40's.

Same here...
My trigger finger also gets a little sore after a lot of shooting. The real problem is with the web of my right hand, because that gets irritated very quickly. It's like the web of my hand gets pinched at the bottom of the grip safety. I have two solutions for that, either I wear thin gloves, or I just use a piece of masking tape to hold the grip safety down, making sure the tape covers the lower part of the grip safety hole.
Please note that I'm talking about doing the tape thing only when I'm shooting at the range for more than a few shots.

thanks for the replies .I am glad i aint the only one . Its not the lbs of the trigger , its the wideness and the sharp edges on the trigger- safety. I will keep on with it and it should ease up . Thanks for the information .

I get it too.
My first XD didn't have the problem, but the next two did. They had a sharp edge in the slot where the stupid plastic trigger safety fits. I had to take a Dremel to the triggers to dehorn them sufficiently. |

I had this problem and it is easy to fix .first see if the safety closes even. my would bulge and the bottom of the trigger is really sharp. go to www.hs2000.com and find disassemble and pull it all apart. and use a dermal or die grinder and smooth all of the ridges and the lower edge.It only took me maybe an hour to do both off mine and makes a huge improvement
