Aiming question

So how do you all aim? Do you practice, practice, practice until you're on where you're aiming or do you compensate for how off you are (say you always shoot low and to the left. do you aim high and to the right?)

I shoot low and left and it's frustrating that I cannot get it right. I have a dominant right eye but I'm left handed so I've been practicing shooting right handed. Today at the range, I tried left handed. I was more accurate but I couldn't focus with both eyes, I had to close my right eye. Should I stick with RH shooting until I get better or go back to LH and strengthen my left eye??

Dry practice will help you.
Low left is cause by anticipating the shot.
Basically you are moving the firearm as you are pressing the trigger.
Shoot the firearm just like it is for real but with no ammo in the firearm or anywhere near you.
We all fight this, all the time.
The best you can do is keep it under control.

when people here complain of off center groups it's invariably
righties shoot low left
lefties shoot low right

seems to me

You don't want to end up "compensating" in your aim by e.g. aiming to the right since you tend to hit to the left. Solve the problem somehow so that you hit where you aim (within an acceptable accuracy window).

I see nothing wrong with closing an eye to be accurate. So what if most people don't; most people aren't shooting for you. As a southpaw myself, we have to change the rules sometimes. Shoot left, close an eye, and show those righties why it's good to be in the UPPER 1/7th of the population!

p.s there is a lefty version of the target posted from sportshooter.com. cant' find it at the moment, but do a quick search and you'll pick one up. Peaceout.

that would depend on how good/bad you shoot.
whatever distance so the shots stay on the target.
of course you have to have a pattern too, jumping all over the place won't tell you much.
10 yards should work well. adjust distance if neccessary.
of course even if you're hitting all into the center circle, what part of the center circle...
