Where to put your THUMB?

While I really enjoy handling and shooting my XD 45C, for the first time this weekend I got some "no slide lock" issues. I figure it was my high right thumb. I could put it in the UP position but this seems artifcial and awkward. I could put it OVER my left had web, but I'm not certain I am comfortable with this. I do like it right alongside the gun, and the XD feels perfect here! (My other problem is that I have CZs, and they are PERFECT, because they allow your thumb to lay on the safety very well).

What do you do?

I had my slide lock mag catch removed. BUT: I shoot right handed, with my left hand thumb running along the frame and my right thumb on top.

my right thumb lies ontop of my left thumb which runs parallel to the slide and rests on the take down lever

Anywhere except behind the slide, I think my eyeballs have tried to leave the eye sockets a few times when I take my wife to the range after an extended absence. Her first grip is thumb on top of her weak hand directly behind the slide! I will have to work with her on that one. I'm a righty so I usually put both thumbs parallel to the slide, left thumb forward and right thumb directly behind it.

XDanthony;
So does that mean your slide doesn't lock back on an empty mag?
What would be the purpose of that?
I'm not being a smart a**.
I just wanted to know.
Thanks.....

Yup, no lock back on empty mag.

Most people think because the slide locked back means the gun is empty. I know if my slide locks back there is a failure or I inflicted it, and then i can proceed to check it out. And I like it this way too for other reasons.

Example:
What if you do not count your rounds.
Slide locks back with one still in the mag.
You drop the slide forward not checking things out.
You thinking to "Dry fire" because your gun is cocked.
BANG! WTF*%$&^%%$#!!(???????????)

I am not saying it has ever or did happen, but its possible.

And the time difference in a any situation is null between racking the slide and dropping the slide stop on a reload as i have to twist my hand to release the slide where my hand stays in one position when i rack the slide.

It would be nice..

To have a slide stop catch WITHOUT the tab, so your thumb would NOT hit it.

If I have vaseline I put it inside myself. If not, left thumb overlaps my right thumb.

It took me a second, then I started LOL'ing

To the OP, I have a Service, not a SC, but I've adjusted my grip to have my right thumb on top of my left.
