9mm 10rnd mags to hold 15rnds

Quote:
Can I alter my 10rn mags to hold 15 or 16 rounds?
Seen this question posted a few times so I decided to do some tinkering this afternoon.

Well it took some cutting and filing but here is a rough product. I still need to straighten and smooth things out but it does hold 15rnds and kinda looks cool too.

Wow, what did you use to remove the center?
Do you think this will weaken the magazine?

The metal is pretty stiff, it was hard to cut. They are 10rnd 9mm mags. I'm still tweaking them as I post. I used a dremil to cut the metal.

Think you can tinker with the 10 round .45 compact magazine so that one of the rounds doesn't rattle around when the XD is loaded to full capacity of 10+1?

Now for the best part of what you did... SPEED LOADER!
Drill a hole in the follower so that you can stick a allen wrench or other through both, the mag and follower. Make sure the mag is on a firm surface and simply slowly pull down (index finger and thumb) and start loading in rounds. It will be the fastest loading process you ever did.

So if you got a 10 rd mag to hold 15 rds, how many can you get a 15 round mag to hold!

15rnds

The 15rnd mags don't have the dents on the sides that limit capacity. That's why I removed the metal from both sides. Look at the unmodified mag and notice what I removed.

I'm lazy... I just bought the ten round .40 magas and bent the feed lips a touch. Presto: 15 round 9mm mags in two minutes, and they are kali legal.

Those cut magazines would be a felony out here in the fascist state of nazifornia....

Not trying to save money I just like to tinker.

i was cleaning my mags once and figured out that the 9mm SC mags had a longer spring than the 16rd mags did. i wondered why. so, i put a 16rd spring in the 10rd mag and figured it actually could hold 11. Any reason why this won't work? I mean I actually carry the 16+1 and only when I'm in a nice environment (suit/tie) do i carry the small mag in my galco skyops tuckable. so if a shorter spring can push 16rds up to the chamber, why won't it work in a 10rd mag with less weight to push?
