New XD from dealer not offering package

When i purchase a new XD from the gun shop should I expect to receive the package thats listed on the springfield armory website? i went to 3 shops and 2 of them had mentioned that when i buy a new xd from them i get the package offered on the website, however the third dealer made no mention of receiving the package he just said i get an extra magazine. is there something wrong with the third dealer? his prices are about 50 dollars cheaper on every new gun. so am i missing out if i buy that new xd for 50 bux with the extra mag, over spending the extra 50 and getting the kit thats supposed to come with it?

It's probably for an older gun...i.e. one that was produced and shipped before they started making the holster ect. package deal...hence the $50 less.

I picked up my NEW xd sc, it was for a great price, but it was an 04 or 06 model...so before they did the package deal, but it's still a new gun.

The XD that he's offering may pre date the deal that SA was offering. If you look at the spent casing that comes with XDs it will tell you the SA "born on date".

Another thing to consider is the slde finish. I believe it was around 4/06 that they began using the Melonite finish.

I just puchased my new XD9 and it came with the package. I am not sure what the extra things are worth but you might as well get all of the goodies if you can.

So that is what the empty casing was for. I was going to post a question about why did they give me an empty casing? Now I know. Is that the only reason for the casing?

How can you tell if it is the Melonite finish?

Sorry for the thread hijack.

All new guns come with a casing. It's the test fire round from the factory.

Depending on where you live, you may not ever see the spent case. Some states keep them so they have something to compare with should the gun ever be used in a crime.

Good point. I forgot about that living in GA.

If you call SA customer service and give them the Serial# they could tell you for sure what finish it has.

We here in Croatia don't receive spent casing. I got an extra mag, plastic bottle (empty) and plastic rod for cleaning (you put a dry patch thru it).

so do you guys think it would be better if I just had the gun dealer order a new xd from the factory? i dont think it costs any more money(?), because some dealers I talked to said bi-tone is often out of stock and we can order it for you, they never mentioned any extra charges. then i know i would be getting the latest model right?
