I've been around for a while, and I thought I followed the growth of aftermarket XD parts pretty closely... But apparently I missed something. Since Bob (Bob's Custom Shop) and Scott (Springer Precision) were both talking about drop-in sears and trigger bars around the same time, I guess I (mistakenly?) assumed they were in cahoots with each other developing the parts.
As I was browsing through the XDGuys site earlier today, just looking at what they had to offer, I noticed that they carry sears and trigger-bars from BOTH Scott and Bob. If the pictures are accurate, there does appear to be some minor differences between the two, and the prices are different as well. I'm looking for a trigger-bar to use with my soon-to-arrive PRP Safety Lever, and I'm wondering what the differences (besides the $15) are between the parts from Bob and Scott. So... What's the scoop? Are they the same? Are they different? Does anyone know? |

Springer Precision is in no way associated with Bob's Custom Shop or Bob Hostetter.
Are 2008 product are redesigned by me exclusively and built to a much higher quality standard in material and tolerances than ever before. After a reworking a 1000 XD's there were changes that could be made to improve the product, and we did. That is why we do NOT suggest drilling and tapping trigger bars. It can go right a lot of the times, but there are things that can go wrong also that can cause catastrophic failure in doing so. |

As far as I know, his is not made of stainless steel (17-4) and may need to be adjusted to account for the deformation from heat treat. They are also dimensionally different.

I must say from the trigger bars I have seen in person, I REALLY like the quality of the Springer parts.

Me too. But I was wondering where the $15 difference came into play.

Mr. Springer is correct, we are no longer doing business with each other. Most of last year Mr. Springer bought my parts and sold them under his brand name. He has since had those parts reproduced by someone else. The parts that XD Guys are selling under my name, for the most part, are the same parts that Mr. Springer sold last year (there have been a couple of small design changes). They are made from heat treated carbon steel rather then stainless steel as his current line of parts are made. The exception is the X Tech or competition sear which is a new model that we came out with just this year which eliminates the need for a separate striker block lever. It is made from heat treated 416 stainless steel. All of our parts are CNC'ed from heat treated billet steel since we orginally introduced them in Jan of last year. If you do a search you will find that prior to Mr. Springer carrying them I had Pistol Gear do some testing on a early unit and he posted the results.
Keep an eye out for a really cool intoduction sale from the XD Guys in the next week or so. You won't believe the prices................
