XD in Mass?

I have been researching new pistols and fell in love with the Springfield Armory XD .40 service model. However, I live in Massachusetts, and cannot seem to find any solid info on if they are legal or illegal in MA. If anybody has this info, please let me know. Thanks!

not mass legal. I live in NH and i know the XD is not mass legal. Even new glocks aren't legal. Only Pre-98 glocks that are reconditioned can be sold in mass. Plus all the new mass guns have to have 10 round mags....

Thats interesting, as well as disappointing. Do you have any idea why this is? I would think they are more than qualified with the safeties and firing pin indicator. Thanks for the info.

not sure exactly...maybe cause MASS sucks with its gun laws. I know that it doesn't have a mag disconnect, i'm sure thats one of their reasons. They allow the M&P....which has the same amount of safeties as the XD with the addition of a mag disconnect, and internal locking features.

Also, I'm not sure of the exact rules, but I've heard of a few people moving into mass with their xd's that they bought while residing in another state. I believe you can move into mass with an XD, but you can't do a FFL transfer to a mass resident. Don't quote me on this.

I hope i dont have to give up my xd if i move into mass in the future. It was already a pain in the butt to get a non-resident LTC in mass...

Yeah i have heard that too. A buddy of mine has a xd-9 that he bought when he lived in Vermont and was able to keep it when he moved here. I really like these guns and wish I could get one in MA in the near future. Now i'm going to have to empty my wallet for a Sig or H&K in the meantime. Overall, I agree...Mass definitely sucks.

On May 12th, 2005 (or was it 2004?) Glock announced that they are going to offer MA compliant models. On or about June 30th, new Glock pistols were removed from the MA market due to a difference of opinion between Glock and the MA Attorney General's office over the loaded chamber indicator.

Which pre-owned Glocks can individuals who possess a MA LTC "A" permit buy?

Any Glock model listed on the MA APPROVED FIREARMS ROSTER that was manufactured prior to 10/21/98

Only pre-10/21/98 models are legal to sell MA.

Commercial sales of brand new post 10/21/98 Glocks have ceased.

If you left us a deposit on one please stop by the shop for a full refund.

We will keep you posted on any new developments.

Ask around any shop in mass. They can sell you a glock, but they are all manufactured before 98'. Even though they are listed on the approved firearms roster, the glocks must be pre 98'. http://www.gssfonline.com/hot_topics..._commsales.pdf
