Completed my CCW class with the XD40 today
Finished my class today, XD performed wonderfully, and i was glad, there were several people having problems, 1 with a Taurus, 1 Kahr, and some small 22 handgun.
I didnt have any problems, 100% on everything and the girls next to me made my accuracy look even BETTER!!! they setup 9 14" square targets in a tic-tac-toe pattern, and some already had some holes form a previous class, instructor had me shooting on the center one. The girl next to me sharing the booth (1 shooter at a time) had a .38 of some kind, and she took up the bottom left FOUR squares... yes, she hit mine when she was aiming at the bottom left corner square. @ 7 yards. about halfway through the instructor nailed down her problem from anticipating recoil and he loaded the gun for her, 2 live rounds in her 5 shot pistol, she did great when she didnt know it was going to BANG shot well enough to get some compliments, and hopefully in 30-90 days, the XD can be with me every day |

i think its awesome you completed a CCW Class. however here in pennsylvania we are only required to have a clean record and in my county proof by way of 1% tax to prove you've lived here for atleast a year. i would like to go for a training class to familiarize myself with the operations of handling a gun any further than common sense has taught me. and going to the range seems like a rather costly option to pay for an instructor and per round. any idea about training classes in north east pa?

NRA course
Jcabin, head over to the National Rifle Association home page and check out there education slot. Programs I hope this link works. The NRA has courses listed in areas and hopefully one will be close to you. Anyways, the course you are looking for is the Basic pistol course which should be at least 8 hours long and will include basic hand gun safety and handling, proper grip, sight picture, shooting drills (you should be shooting on the range with the class) proper cleaning and storage of your pistol. It is a great class for new shooters and those with no training in pistol handling. I would have greatly benefited from this class and not had to relearn and correct bad habbits.
Congrads apierce on finishing the class, some interesting information in there and fun time on the range. Not surprised the XD was flawless. |

thanks guys, the class was a little more then state requirements, i think state says 5 hours class and shoot at least 30 rounds of ammo. our class ended up being a little over 6 hours, and range almost 3 hours shot about 100 rounds.
Best part is i get a 1 year range pass included with the class |

My wife and I have our CCW class April 12th. Long waiting list to get into this class, due to it being at the Regional training center for Police. The instructor is the Police instructor for the range.

Congrats on the class. I took my Michigan class with my xd-40 and got many compliments on the gun. It only took me about 3 weeks to get my cpl after turning in all the paper work and MONEY.
