Dry Firing XD's

Does dry firing my XD45C hurt it. I want to practice my trigger pull due to my shot groupings are left and low. 45 ammo to expensive to fire everyday.

XD 45 4" Dry Fired two to three dozen times a day, five days a week, one and a half years and counting. One of the best shooting guns I've ever had. You should be fine.

Typically it wont hurt since you must dry fire to disassemble your XD.
It's better to be safe though and get yourself some snap caps if you plan to do the excess dry firing that goes along with practice.

I have dry-fired my XD9tac competition gun over 50,000 times(maybe more I don't count dry-fire) with no problems. I have not even had to replace the roll pin. I have extras just in case though.

You can dry fire center-fire guns without problems. You only need snap caps for rim fire guns like a .22

Not so fast. Some people DO break roll pins in XDs. CZ recommends snap caps for its guns (which have double roll pins).

On page 4 of the XD manual:

"Before attempting to shoot, practice operations by
dry firing with the chamber empty, without
ammunition, or with dummy shells. Become familiar
with the safety features, trigger control, and handling
of the firearm."
