Range report w/ range gun XD-40

To start off I own 1911 fully loaded and XD-9 tactical with a 1000+ rounds through each with no problems. Rented a glock 23 at the range close to home and was impressed with it but had to go to another range to rent the XD-40, just the fully supported chamber issue. OK xd-40, 50 rounds of ammo, 2 targets, 1 failure to fire, 11 failures to go into battery. Guy behind counter " must be a bad magazine, here use my mag". 20 more rounds and 2 more failure to battery. Each time the spent case would eject but next round would hang up on the extractor and the nose of the bullet would be in the barrel sort of at a 45deg. angle. Not sure if failure to go in to battery is the right term but dissapointed none the less. Any ideas what the problem was? sure would like to know.

One of two things come to mind
The mag feed lips tried another mag not likely.
Recoil spring whore out.
What type of ammo ?
I have to xd-40's Sub and service probally 5-8000 rounds threw the pair and the only malfunctions where self induced when I started to reload.

we did try a different ammo with a different mag and it was the employee that fired 20 rounds with 2 jams resulting. Limp wristing came to mind first but no way. With what you mentioned it may have been a bad spring. Anyway recoil felt was less than the G23 and just as accurate

Greatest typo ever!
Could the gun have been dirty?

I had the same problem with my gun (XD-40). Polished the feed ramp, and I've had no more problems, over 1000 rounds so far with out a single failure.

Can you give some info on how to polish the feedramp? i have an XD9 and an XD.40 tactical and have had the same problems with them. i went to a stonger spring on the .40 and it helped but i still have the problem but not nearly as often. Any help anyone could give on polishing a feedramp would be great!!

kgpcr, check the thread you started on the feed ramp. I posted what little I have to offer....
