What are the advantages of replacing the stock guide rod with a stainless one?

heavier, less muzzleflip, more rigid, tighter groups. That was the case in my tac .45ACP and the Don's Fat rod I bought.

The XD's come from the factory with a steel guide rod. Replacing it with another steel (stainless) rod shoudn't make much difference. The weight is going to be very, very close.

That's funny my XD9tac has a hollow guide rod and the Stainless steel rods made by DOn weigh much more than the original.

How much of a difference is there between the stock captured dual spring rod when it comes to recoil, weight ect. I mean I have to figure that the engineers did their job when they designed it.
