accuracy xd40 sc vs. glock23???

I recently bought a xd40 sc and I also have a glock 23. I was wondering what the xd40 sc accuracy should be compared to the glock 23. I realize that the barrel is shorter but I also hear that the handle postion (i.e. feel of the gun) and the sights of the xd can improve accuracy. So my question is, does these helpful characteristics of the xd sc make up for the shorter barrel??? I shoot well with my glock 23 but I do not like the feel or position of the gun. I was wondering how I should fare with the xd40 sc.

Obviously I have not shot my xd sc yet, I just purchased the gun...

Let me know what you think... Thanks.

A shorter sight radius doesn't mean the gun is less accurate, it means the shooter can't SIGHT the gun as accurately.

From what I have seen, learning to work the trigger properly on a new gun is responsible for about 99.9% of the "inaccuracy" most people will encounter. Dry firing will help that.

I have yet to meet the gun that wasn't more accurate then I am. The first thing I would do is set each of them up in a Ransom Rest (Ransom International: Master Series Rest) and try different ammo in each to find the optimum ammo (for accuracy).

Then I would work on my shooting with each to see how close I could come to the optimum. In the end this will be an individual thing. Some will do better with one while others will be more accurate with the other.

The good news is that, for self defense, it dosen't really matter.

I shoot my sc and service .40 better than a G23, This all depends on the person though. My friend shoots the G23 better than the .40 service. Which ever fits you better will be the one you want.

My XD40 SC is quite accurate. Very similar to my XD45 and Glock 30 .45 acp. If you shoot one accurately, chances are you will be able to shoot similar guns just as accurately.

After 200 rounds (first time shooting the xd40 sc) I think I am just as accurate with the xd40 sc as with my glock 23. I think I will be possibly even more accurate once I get more used to the gun. The trigger pull is quite different than my glock. All in all I was very happy with the results. The gun felt very good and I feel very comforatle using it.

This is a great thread IMO as I'm currently considering getting either the XDSC .40 or a G23/G19.

I shoot just as well accuracy wise with both in my test run (rental) of the two .40 guns. I personally found that doing double taps with the XD felt easier than with the G23. I was only shooting at 7yds but consistently got double tap groups in the 2.5"-3" range and all were center of mass. This was my first time shooting the XD and the G23. That seems pretty accurate to me but I had to really work at it with the G23.

Still haven't decided which one I'm going to go with and this forum, I'm sure, will help me come to that decision.

Thumbs up Same question

I was about to post this same question, so I'm glad that other people are addressing it already. I haven't shot either of those guns yet, but both are on the top of my list for a CCW. I absolutely love the feel of the XD's (more so than the Glocks) and I was able to hold the XD40 SC and my pinky was just Barely off the bottom of the Grip. I've read that Pierce makes some good grip extensions for the SubComp. Judging by the fit of the grip, I'm leaning FAR towards the XD40SC. What else do I need to take into account if I can't shoot either the XD or the Glock before I buy?
