SC or Tactical dilema

Ok, my XD40 Service is out getting sights installed, and it may not be back in time for a handgun class I'm attending this weekend, so I may have to accelerate my next purchase. I'm thinking I'd like an XD40SC bi-tone or maybe a Tactical, also in .40 so I can share mags and ammo. Problem is, none of the local shops have a SC in bi-tone, so I'd probably end up with a black one if I had to buy it tomorrow. I'm also really liking the EMP, and would like to pick one up maybe later this year once some more reports are in.

So, if my Service makes it back (it's supposedly 'in transit'), I will most likely just order a SC bi-tone in the next few weeks, but if it doesn't, what would you guys do? Get the Tactical now, or the black SC? (Note I don't have my carry permit yet, so being able to carry it isn't a priority right now, but may be sometime down the line.)

As whoever you are taking the class from if they have a weapon that you can rent from them.

Better do that than not get the exact weapon you want in the near term.

Make sure you get exactly what you want and do not settle. These things aren't cheap!

Same for me, I had to order it with the Triijcon NS from the factory. I didnt want to deal with the headache of getting them replaced. Now it's all Springfields problem.

Don't settle for less than what you want. The dealer that I bought mine from told me that Springfield overnights everything, so if you go in early enough (and there in stock) you should be able to get it next day. Unless you have to deal with waiting periods.

Well, 6pm and my Service is still MIA.

I did contact the center that's hosting the class, and it seems like I can get a loaner for the class on Sunday, but that's not an option for anything beyond this one. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to take the intermediate and advanced classes I'll be pretty well set up with my Service and at least one BUG.

I'll probably look into ordering a SC40 Bi-tone next week. Maybe I'll even do like jblakk did, and have the SA Custom shop do the carry job with XS Big Dots on it before it even leaves the factory. (But I may make a few calls and visit a couple of the better-stocked local shops again tomorrow.)

But you know, the Service was my first handgun, and even though I only had it about a month before sending it off for sight work, and even though I can't carry it, I now know how some of you feel when you say you feel naked without your gun. I have an AR in the house, but it's just not the same...

Thanks for the support!
