XD45 Bi-tone not legal in Ca????

I was just told by my local gun dealer that the XD45 Tactical Bi-tone is not sold in Ca (illegal). But the all black XD45 Tactical is legal?? Is this true?

I'm looking to pick up a XD45 Tachical bi-tone.

No, I didn't search...

Thanks for the responses.

12131.5. (a) A firearm shall be deemed to satisfy the requirements
of subdivision (a) of Section 12131 if another firearm made by the
same manufacturer is already listed and the unlisted firearm differs
from the listed firearm only in one or more of the following
features:
(1) Finish, including, but not limited to, bluing, chrome-plating,
oiling, or engraving.
(2) The material from which the grips are made.
(3) The shape or texture of the grips, so long as the difference
in grip shape or texture does not in any way alter the dimensions,
material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel,
the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the
firearm.
(4) Any other purely cosmetic feature that does not in any way
alter the dimensions, material, linkage, or functioning of the
magazine well, the barrel, the chamber, or any of the components of
the firing mechanism of the firearm.
(b) Any manufacturer seeking to have a firearm listed under this
section shall provide to the Department of Justice all of the
following:
(1) The model designation of the listed firearm.
(2) The model designation of each firearm that the manufacturer
seeks to have listed under this section.
(3) A statement, under oath, that each unlisted firearm for which
listing is sought differs from the listed firearm only in one or more
of the ways identified in subdivision (a) and is in all other
respects identical to the listed firearm.
(c) The department may, in its discretion and at any time, require
a manufacturer to provide to the department any model for which
listing is sought under this section, to determine whether the model
complies with the requirements of this section.
Call and ask Springfield and ask if they put the request in to the CA DOJ, or try and make them do so if they have not.

black/black, black/OD, black/tan are on the CA roster, bi-tone stainless/black is not.

everything you ever wanted to know about the new bi-tone XD's in CA, and more:

XD-45 4" Service Bi-Tone not available for CA?

long story short, bi-tone XD45ACP's are not, and probably will not be CA-legal for quite some time.

maybe requiring a safe handling demonstration before sale of a firearm is a good idea:

Sad but true - only the Black and OD are approved on the CA DOJ list:

XD9621 / Polymer, Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 3/17/2009
XD9622 / Polymer, Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 1/23/2009

Springfield has already tried getting it CA legal, here's an e-mail from the other thread:

"I am sorry to say that you are correct, the XD bitone .45 is not legal in CA. We did not get this gun submitted to CA before the magazine disconnect and special marked loaded chamber indicator laws came into effect, which makes this gun unable to be submitted unless we comply with both of these new rules. We have submitted a few ideas for loaded chamber indicators, but to this date all have been turned down. Sorry.

Have a great day!

pardon my ignorance, please, but is it also illegal to modify a black XD by replacing the slide with a stainless slide? What if you just refinish the slide?

Kalifornia is DUM!

I feel your pain. I finally broke down and bought a black one. I'm happy with it.
