thanks for all the responses. i dont want anyone to take what im saying as complaining, i was just wondering if it was a trend that was appearing. either way, and your right SpringfieldXD.40 about people not making a thread to say nothing is wrong. i guess i just wanted to make sure that what i had heard originally was just hype and untrue.. as soon as the opportunity presents itself i will be purchasing a myself an xd9. oh and im not the mall ninja who claimed to fire thousands of rounds daily for practice.

Several thousands of XD's are manufactured daily in croatian IM Metal factory, during the three worker shifts. Daily. With that said, it's always a possibility few of those will be "broken" which doesn't mean the whole gun line is made of lemons.

I think it goes for almost any other gun on the market.

And because of that the few people with problems post them...
The rest of us with perfect functioning pistols don't post threads like...

"My gun works!!! What should I do! ! should i make Springfield send me another one?"

I have only had malfunctions due to ammunition or user related problems. If you read a lot of the reports people are posting closely there will always be something that points to user error or ammunition error.

Sure there are always the truly broken XDs but they are never usually more than a quick trip to Springfield to get them fixed.

I already have 400 rnds thru my xd.40sc and just got it last month. Not a single problem at all, and the first 150 rnds was cheap reloads.

Maybe keep an eye on this thread and see if it eases your mind? Malfunctions with your XD?

I was at the range this past weekend, and the two of us with XD's were the only people who didn't have at least one malfunction. Out of about 20 guns. The guy beside me had a new S&W Sigma and had feeding and extraction problems. BTW, shooting that Sigma 9mm made me appreciate how little recoil an XD has. My compact .45 was a baby compared to the Sigma.

That being said, I challenge those of us who do own XDs and shoot regularly to post up your positive results. Track your ammo milestones and let people know. It is true we only talk about the negative, lets talk about the positive.

Have you ever heard the expression "If it bleeds it leads"?
Malfunction stories are always going to get headline news.

I mean realy if you see...
!%@^@&# XD jamomatic
or
XD the perfect hole puncher

As a headline which are you going to take interest in and which is going to spread like wildfire?
