yup, it's yet another new guy

Hey, i take it i'm the newest one around (still wet behind the ears)
I was invited here by High Velocity. I was on here about two weeks ago and found an equation for power factor, any one know it off the top of their head? And more importantly reguarding the mary ann vs ginger video, i'm not much of a pie eating kind of fella, but no napkins needed here, where do you sign up to be the water guy?

Welcome aboard. Exactly what type of power factor formula are you looking for? Electrical, mechanical, etc.?

From MadOgre's website:

Bullet Weight in Grains, Times Caliber, Times Velocity, Divided by 1000 = Defensive Power Factor or DPF for short.

For 9MM and such you of course use its actual measured Caliber .355 or what ever your bullet is actually sized at. 10MM is .40 cal etc.

Example: A 230 grain .45 load: 230*.45= 103.5 *900/1000 = DPF 93.15

Here's a neat online graphical calculator for the above:

Welcome! The power factor used by the TV show Shooting USA is bullet weight in grains multiplied by average velocity, divided by 1000.

Never heard of the DPF, but seems useful. You'll find a lot of that here.
