XD of the Month?

Yeah, the Nissan Pathfinder Off-road Association likes to do "truck of the month" contests. There's really no point but it still is fun to submit nominees and vote on the purdiest picture in the lot. I say we DO IT!

i'd be more interested in a concealed carry position of the month. people could submit their favorite/most effective ways of carrying concealed & have people vote on it, with pictures of course.

I do agree, that there aren't may custom XDs that would make a cool competition. (And there doesn't need to be. There isn't anything the XD needs out of stock form.) But, it could be cool to have the coolest XD pic of the month, that would showcase the coolest photo, and not necessarily the most tricked-out XD. There could even be a theme for the month (XDs in action, XDs holstered, XDs & Knives, etc.), and then you could see who could come up with the best photo for the theme.

A theme is what would make this work. I belong to a couple photog forums and they all associate themes with their contests.

This would really attract folks with good technical photo ability (framing, composure, etc.)

How about this:

Example:
Categories: Stock, Modified, Concealed, Best Photo(s), etc...

March 1st: A poll is made to determine which category. Poll closes March 9th.

March 10th: Members have 9 days to submit their photos and brief description based on the category and how they most use there gun and etc.

March 20th: A poll is then made with the entries and users have until the day BEFORE the last day of the month. Thread will be closed. The last day of the month the winner is chosen and remains the "XD of the Month" through APRIL until the April winner is chosen.

Any other ideas?

when someone wins, a moderator should allow that person to change the text under their name to June '08 XDOTM or something along those lines. but i think we will run out of themes after awhile. so maybe repeat them to allow for a new different idea to emerge. and if we run out of ideas we could just do a best general picture.

in are jeep club we do jeep of the month. not really most modified just member really. who posts alot who helps the site so really member of the month but just show case there gun.
