How many is too many?

I will be taking my new XD9SC out for the second time in the morning and was wondering how many rounds is too many for one range session?

The range is quite a drive so I don't want to put anything less than at least 300 rounds through it. Are there any negatives to putting 300-500 rounds through a XD9SC in one range visit?

Thanks in advance

Just be sure to clean it afterwards. Should work fine.

I see nothing wrong......it'd be great if more people could fire this many rounds per session.

As stated above, be sure to clean and oil afterwards.

It should be fine. In the tactical pistol classes I've taken, we've shot 500+ rounds in a day with no cleaning until after I got home. My XD is almost 4 months old (still a baby) and it's had about 2500 rounds through it without a hitch. (Cleaning after every range trip of course.)

Thanks for the replies.

I doubt I'll be able to fire this many rounds each range trip. Again, the range is quite a drive for me so I want to make it worth my while. Already have 200 rounds at the house. I may just pick up another box at Walmart on my way.

As for cleaning, do you guys lightly oil the barrel? I've heard mixed opinions on that.

Thanks again.

After cleaning, I just put a couple drops of oil on a clean patch and run it once through the barrel. It's worked fine for me.

shoot it as much as you want. You shouldnt have any problems as long as you clean it on a regular basis.

Send a message via MSN to Bycyclist
I've put through about 750 rds. through my XD9Tac in a class one day before without cleaning. Absolutely no problems, hiccups or anything.

But just in case, bring along a small cleaning kit, so if you need to, you can wipe down the rails and barrel, relube and go.

Your finger will give out long before the XD will. Yes light oil in the barrel, I do live in Florida.
