2008 XD's coming with thumb safety's

Has anyone looked at the SA site lately and did you catch this!
A, trigger, grip, and now a thumb safety. Isn't this overdoing it a bit.

If it's been talked about, I must have missed it, so apologies on my one and only post.

Yep, I believe we talked/posted about that...kinda redundant.

Maybe, but perhaps not. This might have come out of the new service weapon proposal for the military. Though that has been cancelled we get to benefit from it! Also, some departments might like the fact that it is available with a manual thumb safety. 1911 (cocked & locked) guys will like it because they are used to that sort of thing. As long as it can be purchased with or without, then why not?

It's an option on two guns in the entire XD line, don't know why people are sweating this so much

The search function basically sux.

Which post do you consider to be the opitimum post for this subject?

It's only been 1 1/2 months into 2008, so the year is pretty new.

There are lots of subjects that repeats itself, so welcome to the forum and speak your mind as you see fit (within reason of course).

I've had experience with 2 forms of the XD and don't mind a thumb safety.

Do I want one on my pistol? nope
