XD all the way. I bought a M&P 9 for the wife and am already replacing it. Numerous light primer strikes.

I just have to say, Springfield has a rebate on their XD's right now, or at least the last few times I was in a gun store they did.

MP
I think the MP is a good pistol, and the on the other forums that most people really like them. The trigger is quite crisp, but seems pretty heavy OTB to me. I also don't like the extended beavertail (looks) and the cheap feeling trigger, which is not really a 'safe' trigger at all. A black stainless slide is also cool. But... having the modular design of the 45 Compact, and nice "military" look, helped sell me on the XD.
But, SW does have about the BEST customer service of any maker - they send you a shipping label, and save you a real hassle. They make good pistols, and are tempting deals right now. You need to talk to several people who have shot both or own both. Doesn't sound like many are here. |

XD, at least you will not have to practically give the weapon away when you get tired of it. I had a S/w M&P 40 with 200 rnds through it & had it for sale for over A month Finally got $350.00 for it. I thought I was going to have to take the guy out for lunch to "GIT-ER-DONE"

My family owns both. Both are great guns. I'm not wild about the trigger on the M&P, but its nothing a trigger job wouldn't fix.

M&P has magazine disconnect, no?
Not interested in any defensive gun that has this. Also a real PITA for IDPA.

i just recently bought a M&P40 compact and I am thoroughly satisfied with its performance. surprisingly, it is much more accurate than my XD9 Service model. the ergonomics are the same as the XD. i bought mine from Bud's, just like you're thinking of doing. i'm very happy with my purchase and i'd do it again in a heartbeat. if you have any other questions, feel free to PM me
