Im new here! So please dont give me to much crap! I bought an M&P 45 2 weeks ago. It is a very nice handgun! It did have a safety! I was told that S&W did it to try and win the military contract. Dont know when they started that. Ok so i sold the gun 2 days ago! I have a XD 45 compact in earth brown now! The XD is the gun for me! You need to shoot them both if you can and make your own choice!

My buddy got a M&P .45 the other day, it doesn't feel as comfortable in the hand as my XD does. It also makes me feel like there is a lot of pieces that can get caught on my holster, that may be just me, but smoother the better IMO.

I rented at the range the other day both a M&P and service XD in 9mm. All I can say is the XD will be what I purchase next.

I have a bunch of XDs and was thinking of picking up a M&P just to try. So, is the M&P something to avoid or just does not feel the same? I have a bunch of others that do not feel the same, but still feel nice.

I am by no means an expert and actually new to handguns so take this for what it’s worth.

I would take either as they are both well made and shoot well but the XD just seem to be perfect in my hands. Do what I did and try to use one at a range and go from there

M&Ps have a good reputation, but be wary about purchasing a handgun in its first year of production (M&P compact)...while I don't have anything against S&W, they tend to market things before they have them completely nailed flat, and a lot of their psuedo "beta" guns have problems in their first year or two. I favor companies that torture test their products to extreme limits before even consider selling them to the public.

I've owned my XD-45 ACP for about a year and a half and really like it. Last month, I bought a Glock 21 SF and a S&W M&P 45.

The Glock 21 SF has become my daily carry and the XD-45 remains my nightstand gun, as it's been for a while. I was carrying a Kimber Custom CDP as a daily carry up until I bought the new pistols.

I'm finding that I just cannot get comfortable with the M&P 45. The grip of the M&P 45 feels MUCH better than either the XD-45 or the G21 SF. However, IMHO, the trigger on the M&P 45 sucks, compared to either the XD-45 or the G21 SF. Also, for some reason that I cannot explain, the M&P 45 just feels "cheap" to me. So, why did I buy it? I've owned and shot S&W firearms for a lot of years and I'm a sucker for any .45 ACP pistol. I had heard a lot of good things about the M&P and I'm not bashing it. It's just not one of my favorites. YMMV.

I own many rifles and shotguns, and was finally ready for a handgun. I read online reviews, online specs, handled, and rented the M&P 9mm. I was set on buying that gun. (I really liked the rebate and free magazine offer) Somehow I skipped over the Springfield XD until I saw one at a gun show. I had always been concerned about the few safety features on the M&P. I bought an XD .40 sub-compact on the spot. So far I have put 500 rounds through it and have loved every single shot. I purchased Springfield’s 3 clip package last weekend, paid $49 for 2 small clips, 1 extended and holster. No more thoughts of the M&P.
My first Post.

A buddy of mine was really wanting an XD-9 SC for CC, but ended up going with the M&P instead because of the price and the rebate offers. Our local shop is really pushing the M&P over the XD. Even still, it is hard for them to keep XDs in stock, and I think that is why they are pushing the M&P so hard.

I wouldn't buy any S&W product due to the 2000 sell out.
