High Bore Axis
Anyone have one of the notorious 'low bore axis guns" (Glock) in the same barrel length and caliber and tell a difference?
(My 1911 has a little less muzzle flip than my XD 45 C, but not that much). When you hit the other gun boards, people seem to raise this every time XD is mentioned. |

Notorious low bore axis? Low bore axis (theoretically) produces LESS muzzle flip.
The reason I say "theoretically" is because if 2 lb-ft of torque on your wrist is overwhelming and unshootable, 1.99 lb-ft of torque on your wrist is NOT gonna help you hit the ten-ring. "OMFG d00d, i cant beleev yoo shoot a ECKS DEE. dont yoo no thos r made in kro-a-shu? they suck cuz they use soda kan alomnum to mak the prats. my fiend had on and it xploded in his hand and he had to go to teh hosptal and he nos what hes tlaking about becuz hes a Marine SEAL SWAT." It's the exact same as the Chevy vs. Ford thing. Chevy people tell you that Fords are made off 100% plastic and cause cancer, and Ford people tell you that Chevys are made of 100% paper and cause pnuemonia and syphilis. Then Mopar people go and tell you that both Fords and Chevys are made of dried-up Elmer's glue and cause impotence. All good arguments.

I DON'T have a glock but as you can see I have plenty of other handguns and I have actually compared bore axis between these guns by jamming my hand up into a maximum but still very shootable position under the beavertail area and comparing that to the firing pin or striker position. I THOUGHT the 1911 had a low axis and that my CZ might be just a bit lower but the XD is actually lower than both of them. If the 1911 is more than satisfactory in that area then the XD just improves on it. If the glock is even lower ( looks like it is ) then it is something to consider IF you believe that it is important. I may plan on getting a glock to check this out and then do a reliability comparison between the XD and glock by shooting the glock with the XD and then shooting the XD with the glock

The difference between Glocks and XD is small in the grand scheme of things. Agreed if you think the small amount of diffrerence between the two makes difference in hits on a target, then you need to shoot more. It should be almost unoticable to an exsperienced shooter. I can not even tell then difference in my Glock and XD.

The possible glock purchase is now defunct. I just bought a Sig P228 with SigLites, GunKote and new Sig springs. I need counseling lol. Is there a beautiful warm breasted, I mean warm hearted woman out there to share my woe? ( stay away from my guns, babe ) lololol
