Just qualified for my CCW
I just got back from the range after qualifying. Really easy. My XD40 Service was perfect for it.
AZ only requires 10 rds total in center mass, 5 at 5yrds, 5 at 10. The guys doing my course always raise the bar a bit to help weed out those that need a little more work. I did 10 yards and 20 yards. 10 in the chest and 10 in the head at both ranges. After that I stuck around and shot both my XD and 1911loaded in 2-6 rd strings, rapid fire. IJ Edit to add in my 1911 I skipped over. |

Congrats on the CCW. Did you do it at Caswell in Mesa? That is where I got mine and my wife got hers.

i just went for my class yesterday, brought my XD tac. i let a guy borrow it, who was going to rent a gun. He loved it and said he was going to buy one. Before he bought it he said he was thinking about a glock...lol.
There was another guy in the glass with a 4" xd40 and apparently he thought his was better cuz i heard him talking about all the reasons he doesnt like the 5". Its cool for people to like their gun better, its just rude for them to talk sh^t about mine 3 feet away from me. |

When I qualified on the range for my CCW, I wasn't leaving anything to chance. I live in Denver, and had to qualify at 7 yards. Not a timed shoot, so I took my 686 6 inch Smith & Wessen and cocked it between every shot and had almost 25 shots in the 10 ring. Heheh... oh, by the way, here in Denver, you don't have to qualify with your carry gun... just any hand gun.

I took mine through Tempe Tactical on baseline and McClintock, next to Waterdog Willies. We did go shoot at Caswells though.
The guys at that shop really go the extra mile to make a customer happy, and are the only shop I know of down here that doesn't have a single Dick head working for them. All of them are knowledgable and very welcoming to those coming into the shop. IJ |

Hi, All
I'm from Oklahoma and have applied/waiting for my ccw. Here in OK there are no requirements for qualifying on the range but you must show/demonstrate proper and safe handling of a firearm and knowledge of the states laws governing ccw to and approved/license instructors. This requires a written test and the firing of 50 rds minimum in a safe and proficient manner, but that's only after a full day of formal training on state law and hand gun safety. How many/what states requires the type qualification mentioned above? First Post too-cool |

Congrats, I will also put in a comment for the added training. My permit is good for 5 years, but I attend training yearly. I believe it is worth the money. Good Luck
