I'm a big fan of 10mm. But unfortunately it doesn't pass the Two Dot test.
If you can't buy ammo for it in Two Dot Montana then it doesn't pass the test.

10mm is more popular now than ever. All the glock dealers have a hard time keeping the 10s in stock. I do not know where you live but in my area (Idaho) there are lots of 10mm shooters. (Ha ha. 45acp and .40SW have better records with one shot stops than does the 10mm anyway so who cares) Who says?
I also own a Glock 20 10mm and plan on buying more 10mms. You just cannot get the power and range with others that you can out of 10mm. I carry mine for hunting and hiking but not for ccw. If SA produced one I would buy it. The 10mm is far from dead IMO. |

Springfield learned their lesson with the .45 GAP, which they've discontinued production of. They jumped on the .45 GAP bandwagon fairly early, because of all the hype stirred up by Glock fanboys. However, the GAP crashed and burned rather quickly. Glock 10mm's aren't exactly flying off the shelves either, even with Gaston's international marketing muscle. I'm not holding my breath waiting for a 10mm XD, because I don't believe it's going to happen. The 10mm will most likely never be more than a niche product with very limited sales. |

The nice thing about the 10mm is versatility: Yes you can get a .44 or greater as a better hunting caliber, and Yes you can get a .45 that is an absolutely proven man-stopper.
But by choosing the right loads with a Ten, you can get similar performance in both packages. An "FBI" load 10mm is roughly equivalent to a .40 or a .45, depending on bullet weight. But an original pressure 10mm rivals a .357 or the lower end of a .41 Magnum. This means that I keep the familiarity with my same pistol, and don't have to switch handgun or handgun type. I'd buy a 10mm XD in a heartbeat, probably two! |

Having just purchased a 10mm I can report that they are very accurate and quite managable in a steel frame. The new gun makes my XD9 seem like a very violent thing to shoot. The XD/Glock while a great platform is pretty light for such a stout load. Sure it will probably hold up to American Eagle, Blazer etcetera powderpuff stuff ... But run a bunch of Buffalo Bore @ 200 gr. F.M.J. - F.N. (1,200fps/M.E. 639 ft.lbs.) or 180 gr. Speer Uni Core - J.H.P. (1,350fps/M.E. 728 ft.lbs.) through one .. and something tells me the frames won't like it for very long and neither will the shooter. Just my opinion. I've been wrong before Also, Buffalo Bore is about as close to the original 10mm as you can buy.

Can an XD45 be converted to a 10mm? I saw a PO P16 .40S&W that had been converted to a 10mm, and the Glock 20 is built on the .45 frame, so why not?
