problem with mags?
Ok, I dont know if this really matters or not.
When I first bought my XD, if I pressed the mag release, the mags would come all the way out. Now Im not sure exactly when it happened but now when I press the mag release, the mags only come out about an inch then I have to pull them out the rest of the way. This happens with both mags that came with the XD. I have a brand new mag that I have not loaded or shot yet, and when I place that mag in the gun and hit the release, it comes all the way out like the old ones used to. I guess I was just curious as to why the original mags are doing that now. They seem to be working fine so far though. I have 1200 rounds down the tube with those two mags and no problems whatsoever. Do you guys think I shouldnt worry about it, or is something up with my mags.? Thanks

have you tried just cleaning them or doing a side by side with the one that does work ok, and see if you can notice a difference?

try holding down the mag release, then push a magazine up there and let go to see if it slides out freely, if it does. I would think it has to be something with the catch on the front of the magazine. OR take off the slide and put it in and watch where it contacts the slide release lever. those are the only two points of contact so it would have to be one or the other on the magazine end, rather then the frame. when you cleaned the magazine, did you just clean the outside or did you take it apart? (just saying because when the slide release pushes the loading part of the magazine working the spring, if there is debris down there it might not be as apparant)

Oh, and when I hold down the mag release and put in a mag and let go, it doesnt fall out. Not unless I use the new mag.

I notice that you live in Mich., are you shooting outside? could be the frame has contracted slightly due to the extreme cold. Did you keep your "old mags" in your back pocket? They could have actually expanded slightly. Just a shot in the dark if everything else is clean and seems to be in order.

Ok, I think I'd lean towards a weak mag spring then...Clean the inside of the mag and maybe even give the spring a slight stretch.

The mags both feel really tight when i try to put them in the gun once they get about half way in. It doesnt look like its catching on anything and the new mag wouldnt release right if that was the case. Ill try what you said though. Ok, just tried cleaning the mags and gave a slight stretch. Still the same thing!!! I dont know what else it could be. Maybe I shouldnt worry unless it causes a malfunction. I dont think it will though, it works fine when shooting, I just have to pull it out afterwards
