I kind of figured this was another myth being peddled by Glock lovers, but I wanted to find out for sure. |

I ran this by the guys and SA today and their response was the same as mine, never heard of it and it makes no sense.

Hmmm
The slide peels the top portion of the grip safety off inside the slide
How would the slide "peel" off the top of anything. It would just stop the slide. Then maybe a pull to the rear and it should unlock. Worst case I could understand and you might have a slightly boogered up part. I've seen some weird weapons malfunctions here in the 'Ghan but one part peeling metal off another? The thing that scares me is the guy doing work on my XD40 commented on Glock Takl that he's seen it happen. And he is VERY Reputable. So far I've only been able to confirm one slight problem with the XD and that's the XD40s slide lock/round interfearence problem and I read about it here and it was easily solved. |

I'm not sure if you're being facetious or just haven't read the responses from the people that know XDs intimately.

But, if the grip safety did "self destruct" and a piece jammed the sear, you could just drive the pin out and remove the grip safety. Then you could use a thin probe to clear out the crud and free up the sear. |
