The Glock 19 is the pistol I really, really wanted to love but I won't buy one because it feels like crap in my hand. The finger grooves don't match for me and both the XD and the M&P feel much better.
The Service has 1/2" more grip length than the G19. The XD9c, assuming it would have the same grip as the subcompact, would have 1/4" less than the G19. That's why I want it. Grip length matters to me when I conceal cause I'm tall and skinny. So why not just get the subcompact? Because I want to have my cake and eat it too. I want the shorter grip for concealability but with the option of the Service size grip with mag extension and the longer barrel for quicker follow up shots and a little better velocity(I like 147 gr. Gold Dots or HST). This is all IMHO, of course. ETA: Of course if the XD9c really doesn't exist I'll just get the subcompact and still be happy. |

If you're used to the Glock naming convention, then Springfield's frame sizes are a little funky at first.
Tactical: 5" barrel, full-size grip Service: 4" barrel, full-size grip Compact: 4" barrel, short(er) grip (the XD-45 compact grip is shorter than the full size grip, but not as short as a sub-compact). Sub-compact: 3" barrel, short grip |

I agree. I have the XD-9 Subcompact. It's easier to conceal and is just as accurate as the XD-9 Service (based on my own tests). So, if you're looking to conceal, get the sub. |

You're not alone, a bunch of people don't like the way they feel. My wife has S&W M&P 9mm sub compact and I think it feels terrible compared to my GLOCKs. Just goes to show it's all personal preference.

I guess I have just had GLOCKs for so long that anything else feels foreign to me. I really have tried to buy other pistols (Sigs, HKs, M&Ps) but those just feel strange in my hand. I know I'm certainly in the minority here. Don't get me wrong fellas I think all these other pistols are great, probably better than GLOCKs in alot of areas but the GLOCK just feels better than anything else to me.

There is a big difference because I don't want a SC, I want a longer barrel. The Sub compact's barrel/slide is shorter than my desire.
