New XD 9mm Compact

It is a reality and availabe according to SA. Because it comes in a 10 and 16 round option, it sounds like a SC with a 4" barrel/slide.

I am a little dissappointed, in that if it would have been based on the 45C it could have had a nice 'short but full' grip, and could have had 14 and 17/18 round configurations. (and be same size as a CZ P01). With the real short grip, I would probably want the 3" barrel to go with it. And with that short a grip I think I would want an extension, and defeat the purpose altogether of a Compact.

(I do like the SC for different reasons).

What say you?

I just held a XD 9mm for the first time this AM at gander mountain ,it had the bigger mag in it,kinda made it long to conceal.Put the shorter(10 rnd,I think). in to feel,my little finger was not able to be on the grip, guess it has to be one or the other.Did feel good though,I liked the lower comp. mag.
Im looking to replace my Glock 21(its a giant) with a new carry piece,I really like the 9 sub-compact or maybe the.40.Im trying to learn about the Springfield XD line so Im reading all the forums I can.

Darrell,

This is the forum to be on to learn everything you ever wanted to know about the XD. I have the 40SC, and love it. It definitely kicks hard, but I like the feel of it with both grips. I will be buying two more XD's when my NJ permits come back...any day now.

Do you have to apply to buy a handgun in NJ or are you talking about a CCW permit?

It sounds more liike a 'chopped' standard
size than a sub-comact.

Err, really? If their customer service would've told me this was on the horizon two weeks ago when I asked, I'd have bought one new.

Too bad for them I went used, that's no new profit for them.

This is the XD I really want so I called SA yesterday to confirm and to ask when dealers would have it and the CS rep didn't know what I was talking about.

I mentioned in the other thread that I got an email back from them a couple weeks ago when I was originally inquiring about the possiblity of a 9mm compact saying it would be out in the summer. So it's in the works the only question is availability.

briang2ad, did you speak to a regular customer service rep to get this information or did you speak with someone higher up? I'd really like it to be available now.

I'm wondering also, their web site does not have a 9mm compact listed

I've been pricing the 9mm service in order to do a chop job on it, but if they're coming out with one, I'll just wait for a new one direct from SA.

Where did you find this info that it's a "definite" item available?

I spoke to a regular CS rep

I spoke with a guy who answered the phone - no one higher up. He confirmed the already posted model numbers. He said that they are ready to ship, etc.
