To add another thought . . . I am also aware of numerous groups that oppose the use of nuclear technology for any purpose, and those groups have demonstrated their willingness to harrass workers in that industry and their families, possibly escalating to seriously harming or even killing workers or their families. [somebody who has done the research on the identities of these groups -- can we fill in the blanks here? I'm not really up on that stuff but there are nutcase groups for every cause so I know there have to be some "poster children" for this issue]. As a retired military security officer for nuclear facilities, I am concerned that I could possibly become a target of such groups. [if there are any newpaper articles about somebody getting harrassed or picketed or attacked, anybody know of any he could attach to his application? or is that looking too paranoid?]

Here is my take:
My reason for requesting Concealed Carry Permit is simple: There is this korean guy living next to me, and he's acting weird. He's wearing this black t-shirt and plinking targets in his backyard. His haircut is very antagonistic-looking and he's always playing some loud heavy metal music with seriously disturbing lyrics. I think he might be after me and eventhough he's 12, you never know what them Koreans are capable of. Therefore, for my, and security of my familly, I would like to apply for a CCP. P.S. I promise I won't shoot anyone, unless I really, really have to! P.S.S. There are no spelling errors in my aplication letter. Have you noticed that? Yours, EnterName |

Am I the only one that suspects we are being taken for a ride. Most colleges have some reasonable level of entrance requirements -- such as the ability to string together two sentences and spell several one-syllable words. Also, most folks that are married to an English major are able to write above the third grade level.
I may be wrong (I hope I am), but this seems like the kind of setup the antis might stage to discredit us. Maybe post this as an example of the typical CCW gun nut??? |

OK everyone, I know I have horrible spelling and grammar. I am sorry that it bothers you all this much. I am not here to give everyone crap and I am not an anti. I am here just to get help with thing. Now, If you want to make joke about it be my guest. I am aware of my problem with the English language and just don't care enough to pay much attention to it most the time. But, since it seems to bother you all so much I will do what I can to make it better for you all so you don't act like kids and make fun of a person that has a problem. For those of you who actually had some input on the subject thank you for all your help. I also would like to thank those who have tried to help me by giving me the link to the spell checker. I now have that on my PC.

I have said this several times before and you can search out the threads with more details...
1) Be a member of a small group or class of people (they don't want to issue to a lot of people) 2) Be at substantially higher risk than the average citizen (proper cause) Search out the Los Angeles County Hate Crimes Commission Reports and see if you fit any of their categories. If so, you have ready made proper cause statistics that can be part of a presentation. Get crime stats for your neighborhood, your work environment etc. Get VERIFIABLE data and put it all together in a nice package for the licensing officer or judge. Any previous assaults upon your person, provide complete details and corroboration if possible. Good Luck

For my Federal Form 4's (Class 3) I just use "For all lawful purposes."
If you think you need more than that, just don't give ANY impression of hostility to others, or a "they are out to get me" attitude. It gives the impression yer getting the permit with the INTENT of using it. Soon. I'd prolly use something like "For all lawful purposes, including personal defense, and practice at legal pistol target ranges." Getting too wordy will only get you in trouble. Or.... you could say because DIFi has her CCW, and this picture freaked you out, and you need the personal protection... http://www.stentorian.com/2ndamend/feinstn.jpg http://www.ak47world.com/feinsteinAK47.jpg Last edited by garandman; 12-21-2007 at 09:10 AM. |

I'm not a legal scholar but I personally think it's unconstitutional. Nevada isn't perfect but I'm very glad I live here with regard to rights and fair treatment as a law abiding citizen in general.

Far as California, its up to Cali law. They sound like a "may issue" state. This means they MAY issue it to you, if you also pass all the background / mental health / proficiency tests. "Shall issue" states MUST issue the permit if you meet all the legal requirements. Mecklenberg County, NC is actually a "may issue" county in a "shall issue state." Now THAT is against the law. |

How about this for a reason, California may release up to 22,000 inmates to save money next year. That's reason enough right there. They say they are nonviolent, but they need to hone their skills somehow, and what better way than all the victims that have been created by California's insane laws.
