What parts did you use?

I've done a couple and it is really very easy. Besides polishing all moving parts that make contact with other parts get Canyon Creeks drop in Sear/ spring kit. If you want to reduce the trigger overtravel get the Springer Trigger bar. That will pretty well do it. I have my carry XDs set at about 4 1/2 # without the new sear but with the lighter springs and they both work fine. My 45 Tactical is set at about 3 1/2#.

Search "trigger job", "trigger sear", "Springer" and "Canyon Creek" on XDTalk. There have been multiple, informative threads ranging from DIY to sending the gun and getting it done for you, with recommendations.
Then, post specific questions for follow-up. Shoot straight.

The polished sear and springs sold by Springer are drop in and will improve the trigger a lot. If you decide to get their trigger bar, understand it requires gunsmith fitting. It's main advantage is to reduce pretravel and over travel.

I did both the Reduced Travel Kit and the Barstock Trigger Bar. The Reduced Travel Kit is just a mater of changing parts. The Barstock Trigger Bar does require some filing to custom fit it to your pistol. This Thread tells you how do do it.
http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43154 If you have any mechanical aptitude at all you will be able do the whole job a couple of hours. It is well worth the money and the effort. I posted my experience on the following thread: Barstock Trigger Bar form Springer Precision

All I would want...
Is to make the trigger break a little cleaner, and have a shorter reset. The 'long' take up is a good carry/safety feature. What would you need?

Why do people do this? At the range, when someone asks a question, do you tell them "Go read a book" ???? If YOU don't want to answer, why waste your time (and more importantly mine) telling me you don't want to answer? Other folks have been kind enuf to provide an answer (for which I thank them) Maybe people who haven't posted in other threads will answer now. Maybe there's more current info now than what's in those threads. Maybe they've learned stuff about their guns SINCE those threads. All info I find helpful. What is NOT helpful is "Go do a search." So if YOU don't want to provide an answer, then DON'T. Comprende? Thanx. |

I've done a DIY trigger job. I did not by the parts kits or spring kits I modified the stock parts to reduce trigger pull, overtravel, and pretravel.
