When I bought my SC it was so dry that it locked open when I was looking at it at the gun shop. It's pretty bad when you have to buy oil along with the gun. Oh well, a couple of drops and she's worked great ever since.

Don't you clean yours before you go the first time? Heck, I even wash my clothes before I wear them the first time.

My 40sc was dry too. I expected that I guess. The only cosmo guns I get are C&R war rifles.

Enjoy your first time out. I'm still grinning from mine. I wish I would have started buying these pistols long ago.

They come in a bag that prevents corrosion during shipping, so that you do not have to clean off any heavy gunk. Field strip it as you would after shooting, wipe it down and lube it and then assemble.
Or if you are like me and it never makes it home before the first shooting, just take it out and shoot it and clean it later. Don't worry about any issues for the first several hundred rounds, they usually resolve themselves with no effort on your part. Just clean it and lube it when you can, and enjoy it meanwhile.

No cleaning, no nuthin'. Bought it, took it out, shot it. Here are the first shots out of the gun:

Still working great as ever.

Bone dry, in the bag for my 357Sig.

I brought my range bag with me when I picked up my pistol. Bought a box of
Federal 125gr. and went into the range.

I had no Idea how to break it down (no time to read the manual, I've got to shoot) so I just put BreakFree on the slide and down the fireing pin area.

It shot like crap. Flyers everywhere. AT SEVEN YARDS. The first few rounds didn't even hit the paper. If I hadn't shot it's older brother a couple of weeks earlier, I would have thought it was me.

It took about a hundred rounds for it to tighten up. After two hundred, I started to chew holes (as I would have expected).

Maybe I should have shot it dry the first time?

Both my SC and my Service went straight from the shop to the range with no problems.
