what would this run price wise?
I got my taxidermy christmas bonus this last week and the check didn't bounce! Sold an older mount I had in the showroom- big black wolf- to someone who HAD to have it.
So heres what I have been thinking: firstly, I want a walther p-22 for the trapline in MD, nice and small and light- and tax deductable LOL Next I am thinking about an XD40 sc 2 tone with the tritium type night sights. What do you think that will run me price wise? Before all the MD crap fees and so on LOL... Lastly, this local gun store in PA will be offering a FL nonres ccw permit class soon. I can't do squat in MD, but it is valid in PA, which I spend a heck of alot of time in. Kinda why I want the sc. Also does the 3" .40 kick any more than the 4"? I already have a 4 inch.

Going price in reno for the .40SC w/ night sights is $529 and a bone stock P-22 goes for about $300

Sorry way off subject but, how much did the Wolf run the guy? I think that would be an awesome mount.

I sold it for 1200.00, wanted 1500.00 but he dickered over it with me. He was also interested in a double wild turkey jakes mount on base, but he had no room left in his truck to bring home that day! The 2 turkeys were abandoned on me by the customer some 5 years ago and I am sick of looking at them. I told him 400.00 on them even though I was owed 500. Like I said, sick of looking at them. Cripes if he wants these 2 abandoned deer heads I have, I can give him a deal on those as well. He had me mount a velvet racked big 7pt whitetail he hit with his truck LOL ( yes he got a roadkill tag from SP), and the wolf he payed for along with his deer balance. One of these moneyed up guys from the MD burbs outside DC. I have to call his buddy about the 2 of them deer hunting on the 10 acres I live on- my dad said it was ok. I am guessing its not easy to find places to hunt in their area down there! LOTS of antis.
Moving the wolf out now gives me room for a spectacular white arctic wolf I have a skin of, that I will mount one of these days. Thinking of doing it with a wolverine standing on a caribou neck and head it is scavenging, and growling at the wolf. Prob get done in 10 years from now LOL- and all I need is a medium size caribou rack.

To answer your question the going rate seems to be in the range of roughly $500 to $600 (seat of the pants from looking around) for the XD with night sights. The P22 should be under $300. Make sure you get one with a recent build date. The older ones had a lot of issues. I have one and it's fun to shoot. The Remy golden bullets and the Federal bulk both work well in that gun. The Winchester X-pert or whatever they call it -- IMHO -- trash.

3" vs. 4"
I have the XD40SC and love it. It has a touch more kick than the 4" but not by much.

+1...I have a 4" but have shot my friends 3" NUMEROUS times and the difference was minimal (in my opinion)

IIRC the problem with the "older" P22s was with the mags, new ones with an "A" suffix ( or prefix I dont remember ) fixed feed problems.
