Exclamation LRN rounds causing some extraction problems

And there is no doubt in my mind it's the ammunition issue (bit too heavy, less powerful). I shot 100 rounds of Sellier & Bellot ammo today, like the previous 600+ FMJ rounds, gun worked flawlessly. When I switched to the 50 rounds box of LRN ammo (Led Round Nose), I had like few failures:

1. The slide wouldn't stay in the backwards position after the last round fired

2. The spent casing would get stuck in the slide upon ejecting

And this happened like 3-4 times. The rest of the LRN's worked fine, but I'm defintelly not using those anymore. My gun just doesn't like them.

What about you guys, what are your experiences with this type of ammunition?

I haven't tried LRN before, but I did shoot some Sellier and Bellot yesterday for the first time. I bought them because they were priced very cheap, and I've had good luck with their .30 Carbine rounds.

The 9mm 115 FMJ Sellier & Bellots I shot yesterday were extremely dirty compared to the Winchester "white box" that I usually shoot for target practice. I'll probably stick with the cleaner ammunition because I'm so anal about cleaning the gun........ It took me about 3 times the usual time to clean the gun after shooting S&B yesterday.....

What do u mean dirty? Like, lots of led to clean after the shooting? Hmm, interesting. I usually shoot either german Geco's or S&B's.

Anyway, here's some info on LRN's:

The S&B FMJ that I shot yesterday left a lot of residue in the barrel. Generally, if I shoot Winchester white box ammo it takes maybe 20 minutes to scrub and swab the barrel until I'm satisfied that it's clean. It took me about an hour and a half yesterday to clean the barrel, and it's still not clean enough. That's with only shooting 100 rounds of S&B.

Cheap ammo. Don't shoot S&B.

i think its more an usue that the ammo was under powered then the fact that its a LRN.
i prefer to shoot the coper plated bullets (like blazer) i reload an they are cleap and dont dirty the barrel very much

Your slide is short stroking uing the weaker ammo. IMHO, XD 9mm guns have too heavy of a recoil spring. 9mm barrel makers agree and say to switch to a 14# recoil spring to shoot 9mm. I have that in my XD Tac and it works fine. It also short cycles sometimes with the heavier (stock) recoil spring.
