I have a 9sc and I have no problem with the trigger pull as far as the "let of" is concerned.(mine is about 5 lbs). In fact, I think it is one of the best felling triggers of it's type.
I do however have a problem with the trigger safety and the recoil (which I believe is the problem the original post was about).
After about 50 rounds, the tip of my finger feels like it is bruised! The trigger safety is just slightly higher than the trigger and eats into the fingertip upon recoil.

An X-acto knife and ten seconds will cure that.... just shave the leading edge of the safety until it lays flush when depressed.

Is it possibly to completely remove the trigger safety?

Now fellas please save me the "why would you want to remove a safety feature blah blah" replies...this is strictly a competition gun. I just had Springers awesome 2.5lb trigger installed but the feel of that little safety spring is annoying, and it creaks. Kinda detracts from the enjoyment of the new found trigger a bit.

If it was a easy process I might consider disabling it...

hello,
if you can find a replacement spring, good. you still have to remove it from the trigger. i havent checked it but, is the pin forced fit or what. just noticed a dimple on my trigger and i think its been compressed from both sides inorder for it to lock

Yes. Take the trigger out, remove the tiny spring that operates the center safety leaf. Epoxy the center leaf in the rear position. Sand trigger face smooth.

Done

Your xd may be different than mine, but an x-acto knife ain't gonna trim my metal trigger safety.

Well.... I did trim mine, I could have sworn it was plastic. Been a while, maybe I switched to a file and just didn't notice.

Just out of curiosity, what are those things they addressed in the SR9?

External safety? Adjustable grip?

I keep waiting for one @ Sportsmans Warehouse to fiddle with.....

You could write off the Ruger SR9 for the same reason, but it can be made much better also. For those that don't know, the SR9 seems to be Ruger's attempt at updating the Glock, since Glock won't do it. They addressed most all of the things I would in a Glock.

I have seen very few pistols I would like the way they come off the shelf.

Solid removable locking block, 1 manual safety, grip angle, grip size, better sights, ambi release, but those are just my opinions.
