If you clip that little spring shorter, it wont fit back in place correctly. It probably will fall out. The trigger safety was set to work with that length of spring.

We have ALL the rounds springs for the XD. many of the smaller springs are interchangeable and have different weights, so you can mix and match if you are inclined to do so.

Agalindo, whenever a picture is needed to clarify, you're always on the ball. It's impressive.

My bad. I thought I read Scott replying to Nuj's first comment about the actual trigger spring. I'm going to go sit in the corner for a while.

jetflyer,

Let me preface my remarks by saying that I am not being a smart-a**. This is a legitimate question.

If you dislike the feel of the trigger on an XD, why did you purchase one? There have been many guns (most notably some by Taurus and S&W) that I have picked-up, pulled the trigger one time and said, "Not for me."

Really am just curious..

NC Dave,

How about this question? The XD can have probably the best trigger of any of the striker fired pistols, but you wouldn't know that from the first time picking one up. It is hands down the best selling pistol of 2007.

You could write off the Ruger SR9 for the same reason, but it can be made much better also. For those that don't know, the SR9 seems to be Ruger's attempt at updating the Glock, since Glock won't do it. They addressed most all of the things I would in a Glock.

I have seen very few pistols I would like the way they come off the shelf.

Good points. I guess I was thinking more of some DAO triggers that felt like they were full of bits of gravel. Others had a take up that was so long, you could take a nap waiting for the trigger to break. Everything can use a little help, but I think we have all picked-up a gun that we could tell in 5 seconds was something that we would never like.

My point was that if you disliked something about the basic design of a trigger mechanism, maybe that gun is just not for you. Yes, the XD is one of the best selling guns, but you can still find people who would not own one for one reason or another.

As with all firearms, use what works for you and take a pass on everything else. Only an individual can decide what is a right or wrong gun for his or herself.

I used to have a xd40 that I could shoot all day with and loved it. I traded it for an xd9sc and any more than 150 rnds a day is painful. I thought about rounding off the edges of the trigger safety a little to make it more comfortable.
