I use tetra gun triple action to clean and oil. Best stuff I've used.

You will probably get as many answers as there are people on the board. I have used Hoppes #9, #9BR, Ed's Red, CLP, FP-10 to name just a few.
For oil I use FP-10, Mobil 1, or Amsoil.

what is anyones opinion on the stuff that is in the aerosol can. It is safe for synthetic and it sprays the crap out and also cleans. it works great IMO. use it and a little lube and your off.

I know this isn't for everyone, because a lot of folks prefer an all-in-one solution. But I've found that, just as you wouldn't use the same chemicals to wash your car as you would to oil your car, I get the best RESULTS by using separate chemicals.
* For general cleaning. For general cleaning of all metal parts, inside and out, I use Mpro7 cleaner. I've tried most of the popular chemicals on the market, and this one gets you down to bare metal faster than anything else, yet it's totally mild, has no smell, and will not harm your skin or other materials such as plastic and rubber (don't let it dry on a wood finish, however). * For general lube/protection. I use the Mpro7 CLP or "field cleaner." This stuff is amazing, it works as a good "all-in-one" at the field and range, or you can just use it to lube/protect after cleaning with the Mpro7 Cleaner. It has a "synthetic thin coat" technology that is not just hype; it really does stay on your metal, and will not run, pool, or drip off. And it has an incredible temp range, -55 to 800 degrees Fahrenheit, so you can use it on automatics, slides, whatever. Great stuff. * For occasional deep-cleaning of the bore. To get embedded copper deposits and other stuff out of the bore, occasionally I'll use some Wipe-out Brushless bore cleaner. This stuff works better than anything I've tried, has no harsh smell, and combined with the Mpro7 cleaner, puts an end to the need for any brushing of your barrels. You just run it through with a patch (or spray the foam version), let it soak for an hour, and then run another patch or two, followed by oil, and you're done. |

Mostly:
Gun Scrubber in a spray can (not that I have seen it in bottle form) Rem Oil in a spray can Patches Brush Rem Oil patches (those pre-oiled paper towel thingies, make for a quick wipe down!) I'm interested in hearing what other people use. I just got a lasermax internal and the trijicons on my XD9SC, do you think these products will hurt it??? |

I swear by blue wonder products. So does the wife. She prefers the smell of BW over Hoppes any day..

Hoppe's #9 is my favorite because I dig the smell. Butch's bore shine is good if you can stand the stink of ammonia.
If the spousal unit can't stand the smell of anything, you can use MPro 7. It's some kind of concentrated soap with no smell but works pretty well. Last edited by bountyhunter; 11-29-2007 at 02:56 PM. |
